Amanda is a Kelowna-based Holistic Nutritionist who focuses on women's health and metabolism. Amanda is the founder of Mindset + Metabolism, a comprehensive 12-week group coaching program for women, that focuses on the gentle way to balance your hormones, kickstart your metabolism and manage your mindset, so you can feel light, energized and in complete control of your habits around food.

As the seasons change, so do the ways we practice self-care. Are there any Spring wellness practices you feel have a big impact on your wellbeing? 

Being active outside is one of my favourite things about the Spring. A run by the water, a hike or an outdoor workout class have been some of my favourite ways to get moving. 


What we eat is such a huge component of taking care of ourselves. Can you share some tips on supporting our health during the Spring through our diet?

As the weather gets warmer I naturally gravitate to less warming foods like soups and root vegetables and enjoy more smoothies, fresh salad and fruit from the local farmers market. This time of year can be such a great time to explore what local fruits and vegetables are grown in your area and support your local community. 


As we’ve come to understand, self-care can mean so many different things. What does the concept mean to you personally?

Self-care to me means prioritizing the things that make me feel my best, especially when life gets hectic. Prioritizing sleep, spending time outside, being active and making sure I’m not over-committing on my calendar are all things that help me prioritize my well-being. 


What has been a wellness practice that has had a significant impact on your overall health?

Letting go of the idea that we have to do everything, all the time. While I love to prioritize sleep, exercise, nutrition, stress management, drinking water and self-development, I also find it helpful to realize we won’t always have everything perfectly balanced and that’s ok. 


What's been keeping you well these days?

I feel so fortunate to live in the Okanagan Valley of British Columbia, and I have been loving 6 am hikes with friends! I’m such a morning person and these longer days allow me to get outside bright and early for some fresh air and movement. It’s such a beautiful way to start the day.
